Laser Hair Removal

Laser Tattoo Removal
Conventional wisdom has always been that tattoos are forever, unless you are willing to undergo a painful procedure that could possibly result in permanent scarring. Since millions of people in the US have tattoos and experts say that 50% of them have considered having them removed, the situation did not seem promising. We are glad to tell you about a new technology that can remove tattoos without surgery and with little or no scarring.
Laser Tattoo Removal is the process of using laser light to break up the ink in a tattoo so that your body will absorb it naturally over time. The laser is applied in small microbursts that penetrate the outer skin layers and target the tattoo ink itself. The ink shatters into small particles that are then carried away by your body’s immune system. The bursts also will break up cells that contain large amounts of ink. These dying cells will also be carried away with the ink fragments. After several weeks you will see your tattoo fading away. Depending on the type of tattoo, your skin type, and other factors, several treatments may be necessary to fully remove the tattoo. At Monarch we use the Medlite C6 laser, which is widely regarded as the finest tattoo removal laser available.
Unlike older methods, scarring and infections are rare with Laser Tattoo Removal. The procedure itself is relatively pain free and can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more depending on the size of the tattoo and other factors.

Botox® And Restylane®

Sun Damage And Age Spots
What causes age spots?
Age spots, freckles, and various birthmarks are just a few of the commonly known marks generally referred to in the medical profession as pigmented lesions. Except for birthmarks, they are almost always caused by the cumulative exposure to the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays over the years. Once you have your age spots removed, you will want to purchase one of our Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreens to prevent further UV damage to your skin.
What types of spots can be removed?
We can remove brown age spots, “liver spots” and freckles with our IPL, intensed pulsed light and Medlite C6 lasers. Your clinician will identify your specific type of lesion and discuss the removal success rate associated with your condition. If you would like your face treated, we may recommend a special skin care line, Obagi, to prepare your skin for 6 weeks prior to treatment. When you meet with one of our highly trained consultants, they will listen to your treatment goals and make recommendations to optimize your results.
How many treatments will it take to remove them?
Most common pigmented lesions are removed within one to three treatments. Some deeper lesions will require more treatments.
Can the spots come back after treatment?
Common pigmented lesions do not return. However, you may develop more age spots over time. Even if you have stopped tanning, the sun damage of your youth may show up as you continue to age. It is important to wear sunscreen at all times to minimize sun induced melanocyte stimulation that will create more dark spots over time.
What type of post-treatment care is necessary?
Most clients experience a warm sensation and some redness similar to a light sunburn. The day following treatment you will develop some darkening of the treated brown spots. It is important that you not scrub off these dark areas. They need to heal from within and will fall off on their own. You can apply makeup over the area the next day. We recommend that you use a moisturizer and physical sunscreen the first week after treatment. Your nurse can recommend appropriate products during your treatment that you will be able to try and purchase while in the office.
Spider Vein Treatments
For years, Spider Vein Treatment consisted of one option: sclerotherapy, which involves injecting the veins with a chemical solution. Now we can treat small and medium spider veins using a laser. The laser is applied to the skin over your spider veins. Laser energy causes your spider veins to coagulate and shrink. Usually there is no need for anesthesia; you will experience a feeling similar to a small rubber band snapping against your skin.
Over two to six weeks, your spider veins usually fade. After each treatment, you will see a 70% to 80% improvement in the appearance of face spider veins and 30-40% improvement in leg spider veins. An average of three treatments will be required at three-month intervals.
Unfortunately, laser therapy is not effective for larger spider veins. If you have a combination of large and small spider veins, you should consider sclerotherapy for the larger ones first, followed later by laser treatment for the smaller ones.
However, laser therapy of facial spider veins is the treatment of choice. Laser treatment may cause minor bruising which usually improves within a week, but often, recovery is immediate. Right after treatment, you may apply makeup and will be presentable.
Medical Grade Microdermabrasion
Most of us know (thanks to game shows and Trivial Pursuit) that the skin is the largest organ in the body. It has the most contact with the outside world, and therefore as we age the visible signs of that contact start to show in the form of age spots, fine lines, crow’s feet or acne scars. Most of these defects are imbedded in the outermost layer of skin called the stratum corneum, the very top layer of the epidermis. It acts as a protective layer, helping to seal in moisture and seal out all but the smallest molecules from getting through. Consequently, that protection also slows the rate at which the skin creates new cells.
Microdermabrasion is a process of physically removing just this outermost layer. The body interprets this as an injury and rushes to create new cells. The result is a fresh new look – the new skin is softer and smoother, and many of the surface imperfections are removed or minimized. Moisturizers also penetrate the skin far deeper than before, so with a little care the new skin can be kept softer and more supple than would have been previously possible. At Monarch we use the DiamondTome™ system, a great improvement over the older abrasive based treatments. It guarantees you a pain free experience.
For best results, several Microdermabrasion treatments over the course of a year are advised. There is very little discomfort (usually only for a few hours at most), virtually no side effects, and it works on all skin colors and types.
